I do know what ya mean SBCMetroguy about missing out on the big city stuff sometimes. That is the 2nd reason why we want to move from Jackson, MS. The first one is wanting to get closer to his work. Dallas has also been a thought. But we're thinking that is too BIG and still too far from his work. And there isn't any big lakes outside of Dallas that we can live on.

Default Shreveport

You are not really moving TO Shreveport are you?
Shreveport is a HORRIBLE city, I have been to large and medium sized cities and towns all over the deep south and I have never felt as unsafe as I have in Shreveport.
you will get shot..

I agree with previous poster...why anyone would volunteer to move to Shreveport is beyong me. The clubs mentioned by 2nd poster...most aren't safe to go to past midnight...unless you want to get shot, mugged, or raped. Granted there are a few nice restaurant type places like Wine Country, Superior Steakhouse, etc to hang out at. Nothing spectacular. Go to Dallas, it's awesome. Or anywhere but here!

Shreveport is not for everyone. If you have lived in a larger city, it will take some adjustment no doubt. I'm ok here; not really as conservative as others, more on the moderate side. Possibly more than anything it is who you are.

On the other hand as much as I enjoy visiting Dallas or Houston, I couldn't see myself living in either city. They are just too big for me. I don't like traffic, period. The diversity would be ok, as I don't care where you're from or what's your backround, people are people. Personally I prefer a smaller city even smaller than Shreveport.

Best of luck to those of you either contemplating a move here or sorely disappointed with living here. I feel for you. Were I younger and was either single or married to someone agreeable to move, I probably would. But that is not the case, so I make the best of each and every day here.

Sometimes living in a place you don't particular care for can be a positive experience as well.
