Default Shreveport/Bossier City apartments

My daughter is relocating to the Shreveport/Bossier City area next month. She's spending the weekend looking at apartments. She wants to stay in Bossier City, however she's having a hard time looking for places with vacancies.

She's looking at a place in Shreveport however, the Residence at Spring Ridge on Bert Kouns Industrial. Is that in a nice area of town.

She's 22, and is looking to spend between $750-$900/month in rent.

As always, many thanks.

Well, Bert Kouns is a very long road, and it spans many miles from the busy Youree Drive shopping area all the way out to the heavily industrialized area near the GM plant. I rarely ever make it over that way anymore, so I had never heard of these apartments. I looked them up, however, and they are in a "meh" type of area, if you understand. There are some fairly bad areas nearby, but there are also some decent areas over there as well. The apartments themselves are gated and look extremely nice, so personally I would feel okay with them. Most of her shopping will not be done in that area anyway, most likely, and also depending on where she will work it could be a bit of a drive. The stretch of Bert Kouns between 3132 and Youree Drive is a real b***h most times of the day, but especially at rush hour. Hopefully her commute wouldn't take her that way. I try to avoid that stretch of road whenever possible. The stretch where those apartments are is busy, but it's not nearly as busy as the aforementioned.

Thanks. She went ahead and committed to the apartment late yesterday. She's happy, and it seems like shopping is close by. She estimates it to be a 20 minute commute to work...she's working in Bossier City.

Again thanks.

Whatever anyone does, do not rent an apartment located in Bossier City, on Coleman Avenue. (By Bossier High School) It's a brick building, ran by slumlords. Boards are screwed to the walls because of past leaks, that still leak, (around light fixtures, through ceilings, etc...) they are not in a hurry to fix anything so they never do...it's very run down, and it shows. They also own a few houses that they rent out also. They (the houses) also show the landlords lack of caring to the property. Do not rent from them, you will regret it!

Great advice! That area around Bossier High School, unfortunately, is a magnet for slum lords and my advice to anyone would be to not rent in that area unless you are just desperate for a place to live.
