Hi all,

New here, but did a lot of my growing-up in Shreveport, Bossier, Ringgold, Coushatta.

I am planning to move back to the area, and am in the market for a home. I want some acres where I can raise some animals and have a big garden -- my family is from about 40 acres in Ringgold. At a minimum, poultry and rabbits, but I'd like to be able to keep larger livestock as well.

Getting info on houses seems difficult from out of state (I'm currently west coast). I've found a few -- a lot less particular on houses than on finding some land to go with it, although I remember too many horror stories of people living in mobile homes during tornadoes to really want to live in one of those.

I've found some houses 2+ bedroom, from 1200 to 3000 sf, on 2-20 acres, anywhere from about $35K to $80K. I don't mind getting my hands dirty and doing some work, and I don't mind older homes if it's what I am looking for, but the price would need to reflect what I have to put in as far as work and money. I've looked around Carthage, Waskom, Marshall TX, up to around Magnolia, Ark, and east to areas north and south of Monroe ... as well as south a bit, but I'd really like to be within an hour or two of Shreveport/Bossier.

Does anyone know of suitable property for sale, areas that would be good to look in, buyers' agents who can assist, or have any help or suggestions of any kind?

Thanks very much!!!
trisha

Default Check out timberland in Nevada/Clark county Arkansas

Go to Timberwatch or just google timberland in Nevada/Clark counties. They are located a bit west and north of Magnolia. Look for cutover land for the cheap stuff. These counties have small populations and no real tourism so the land is cheaper.
