Thanks for the article Deadwood! Maybe these high gas prices are a great awakening. Imagine how great it would be if the midwest had a major train system similar to Europe's. It would be so much cheaper than flying and driving. AmTrak is a good start but there needs to be more.
Deadwood, the article is interesting. Sometimes, I try to find a silver lining in the midst of challenging and unpleasant topics. The ten good things with $4 gas is a good cheer up and some of these things I know, but the information is good and puts a new perspective. I think that we will adjust and will get through this time of challenge.
I agree with Danny on the light rail idea. For South Dakota, the routes I would like to see the most is one going from Sioux Falls to Rapid City and another one to Minneapolis. Another one to Sioux City and then leading to Omaha, KC, Des Moines, and points beyond would be nice. It would be more efficient form of travel and I can put less wear and tear on my vehicle. Car rental places near train stations or bus stops at the train stations will provide a greater ease of mobility for people when they use the train.
