My friend banks at CorTrust and has been happy with them and other banks at Wells Fargo. If it were me, I would shy away from Wells Fargo and US Bank, but I rather bank at banks that are local or regional and know people on a first name basis.
I have banked with Service First Federal Credit Union in the past and had decent service with them and were good to work with when getting my first car loan.
Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union is building a new branch near the east-side Menards and Wal-Mart and First Bank & Trust will have a new branch built near the Target that is under construction in the next year.
Of all the banks in Sioux Falls, my favorites are First Dakota National and First Bank & Trust, which are based in South Dakota and are community banks with plenty of services with a personal touch. Both have westside and downtown locations.
Other banks in the east side to consider, but not mentioned, include Home Federal Bank, Great Western Bank, and First National Bank which all have locations within a mile or two of 10th and Sycamore.
For the east side, I would recommend CorTrust and Service First Federal Credit Union.
First Bank & Trust only has a couple locations in Sioux Falls but they have a pretty good rewards program with their checking account if you use your debit card alot and have direct deposit.
One thing to add: one has to get his or her statements online in addition to the debit card use and direct deposit. For those who carry several thousand dollars for a balance, the healthy interest rate would be a good deal. Even for those who maintain a thousand can earn respectable interest.
