That is only true in terms of entertainment, like tv, movies and music. American football and baseball are not that popular outside North America (expections like baseball in Japan). The biggest names in American sports, at least from an European perspective, are athletes like Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong and the Willams sisters. I think very few Europeans are interrested in baseball as a sport. They do not know the game or the players but most have heard of Yankee Stadium and seen the Yankee logo.

As others have stated earlier, New York Yankees are more popular worldwide as a brand, like a symbol of New York and America. Jay-Z said it well: "I made the yankee hat more famous than a yankee can".

Yup most people see the Yankees about a brand, but in all honestly all of them don't give a crap about the baseball (Outside the US that is).

Wrong, big time. Baseball is very popular in South Korea, Japan, Venezuela, Cuba, Panama and the Domincan Republic, just to name a few countries. The Yankees have had players from at least 4 of these countries.

I would agree that soccer is much more popular worldwide, but it's incorrect to state that the Yankees and MLB hold no appeal outside the U.S.

Oh crap I just re-read what I wrote, I know that MLB is popular with the countries you stated above, but with alot of the Commonwealth countries, alot of people know of the Yankees brand, but they could care less about the baseball let alone know the rules.
