England is a top-8 world soccer power...since WW2...
USA soccer team was almost nonexistent even 10 years ago...
Americans refreshed soccer with their excellent condition, passionate fighting & robot like synchronisation & organisation...
Their blazing counterattacks will be their trademark...
This World Cup will be the revelation of the Americans...
As for the Greeks,they are a top-32 power,but not a top-16 team.They got what they deserve.
They will end last in their group...As they did in '94...

England is only a superpower in their own minds. They have only won the World Cup once ... in their own country and with a little help from the referee. They have rarely got to the semi-finals and did not even qualify in 1974, 1978 and 1982.
Howard had to stand on his head to get a point out of that one. On the other side, Green was almost worthless. He better just stay in South Africa after the World Cup; they will kill him back home.
Howard played as I would expect a top class goalkeeper to play. But the reality is that England created relatively few clear cut chances. Howard only had 4 or 5 real saves to make.
They didn't even get to see their ONE goal in Merry Old England...

England qualified in 1982. In recent history, they were quarter finalists in 1986, reached the last four in 1990. Failed to qualify for 1994 (bad coach), but reached the quarter finals in 2002 and 2006, only going out narrowly each time.
In other words, your judgment of the England national team is pretty harsh. While they might not be world beaters, they are definitely justified as being considered one of the world's top 10 elite. If you look back at their games, they seldom lose, even if they don't play well. There are also occasions when England can be brilliant and can potentially beat any team, but the team generally suffers from having too much expectation placed on their shoulders and many English players need to try to play outside of the EPL, to further themselves.
Not taking anything away from the US, but they were lucky that Wayne Rooney wasn't firing on all cylinders, as he has been for Manchester United all season.
