Why most sports fans (non soccer fans) in the US hate the MLS and hate the MLS supporter groups? I think the supporter groups if they support all city teams will improve results, create atmosphere and of course increase ticket sales.
Ignorance. Its one thing not to take an interest in the sport(which is fine), but its another thing to slate the sport and hate it because you don't have an interest in it.

Saying most sports fans hate MLS is a bit of hyperbole. A more exact statement would be that a majority of sports fans are not interested in soccer. Most definitely do not HATE it. That may have been accurate 20 years ago but that is fading. I have bought tickets for several soccer bashers over the years and 5 of them are not only soccer fans but actually have season tickets now.
It's a cultural thing. Football and baseball have been the countries main sports for over 100 years. Football grew through the development of college football programs and college sports is huge here. Baseball just became the country's summer pasttime.
As MLS has grown, there have become more fans. It is more acceptable to be a soccer fan now. Also, sports fandom is a generational thing. As the original fans of MLS have kids and those kids grow to be sports fans, the fandom will be handed down generation by generation and the sport will grow from there.
In my household, being a soccer fan is normal and being an SKC fan is about as important as being a Chiefs fan in the average KC household. It will take more generations of that development for it to grow.
Name MLS players to a guy that thinks any talent must come from other countries? Sounds like a debate that will go somewhere.
