I am just curious to see if there are any Americans that are following the World Cup, given the U.S. lack of interest in soccer/football.

That's kind of a silly question. You just need to see the multiple threads updated in this forum each day discussing the event.

I attended a watch party for the US/England game in our downtown entertainment district in Kansas City last weekend that had about 4,000 people. I will be going back tomorrow. They have been showing every single game of the World Cup starting at 6:30AM and several hundred people have been there at all times.

I would straight up tell my boss that the meeting needs to be cancelled.

As soon as the schedule was released I took off all US games and any possible games they would play in the knockout rounds. I would consider losing my job before missing a US game live.

I posted this in the General U.S. forum but the mods moved the thread.

I'm close, as of yesterday I had watched 14 of 16. I watched all 64 in 2006 but my work and 2 kids arent allowing me to do that this year. I can watch 2 games a day during the week and all of them on the weekend.

As a typical American, every four years, I enjoy watching grown men pretending to be injured, only to pop up and experience miraculous recoveries (the rest of the time, professional wrestling provides me sufficient athletic histrionics).

And if ties are like kissing one's sister, soccer must be the most incestuous sport extant.

I might have to forego many games of the World Cup this time, though. Those plastic noisemakers reminding me that I don't pay for cable so that I can have a low-level headache simultaneuosly provide a rationale for going outside and leaving the boob tube behind...

So -- viva futbol. Give me a shout-out when something happens.

I'm a SAHM and I watch the 3 televised games that are on each day! I love it. I plan my schedule around the games. July is going to get kind of hairy when the Tour starts!
