What happened to France!? This was a very unlikely ending score. In this year's world cup the rules changed and any team can win. Its not that I am taking credit away from Mexico, it is just that all statistics were against Mexico and POW, 2-0. Go Mexico!
I can see it now. Uruguay and Mexico will play for a tie. Win-win for both. It guarantees both teams advancing, regardless of the outcome between France and South Africa.
It was not upset, France has been awful for a couple of years now. Glad Mexico played properly this time after the disaster against South Africa.
I don't think they will go for the tie against Uruguay because whoever finishes in 2nd place in this group will have to play Argentina in round of 16th which is pretty much a guaranteed loss.

Except that .... neither will want to play Argentina in the next round. So that is an incentive to go for a win.

France were terrible. They didn't play as a team and, quite honestly, they didn't look interested. Also, Domenech made a big mistake leaving Benzema out imho.
I dunno, from the beginning I thought France played well. They had more shots on goal etc than Mexico (based on the fifa.com stats at halftime). But what I saw was the Mexican team playing like tigers to win! At first, I thought they would just tire themselves out and get slaughtered LOL
But fighting to make goals really paid off for them.
IMO just saying France didn't play well makes it sound like they "gave" the win to Mexico. Mexico totally fought for it. I think they will get killed in later rounds, anyway, but you never know. France played better, but didn't have heart.
So France will crash out and one of these stupid teams will face Argentina and get a 0-5 drubbing
This is what makes the world cup boring. One, it presents Arg with no real challenge, two, it takes the spice out of the next stage
France and Italy are those slow starter teams that get good in the second stage.
A "lesser" team deservedly beats a "superior" team and you think that is boring
That is precisely one of the things that makes the World Cup so interesting. But you would probably prefer to limit the tournament to just 8 teams who you think deserve to be there.

As someone once said, there are lies, damned lies and statistics. Fact is, the French rarely troubled the Mexican goalkeeper. That is one of the reasons they replaced Anelka at half-time. France had a decent amount of possession but Mexico always looked dangerous even before they scored.
