OMG, Italy is out. First time they didn't make it past the group stage in 36 years, I think.

And just who are these people that say the game is boring???

First France. Now Italy. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

This tournament is taking on a very intersting shape from the outset; a very intersting shape!

I can't help feeling that both Italy and France took qualification for granted and paid the price.

Maybe they're not used to South Africa weather. It's a whole new different environment for both teams, though the same can be said for the rest of the European teams.

I can see why South American teams fare very well. Familiar environment, and - like South Africa - geographic location in southern hemisphere. Not the sole reason, but certainly a part of it.

I don't really accept that.

First of all, these are highly paid professional athletes. They should be able to play in different conditions. Secondly, Italy lost to Slovakia, also a European nation.
