Is there any correlation between how far south you live and the propensity to flop/dive?
Probably not.

If anything this was just Karma.

Robben was as bad as any Spanish player. I recall one incident where he went down squealing like a girl after a straightforward shoulder to shoulder contact. There were also several incidents where he pursued the referee all over the field to try to get a decision. It was disappointing because, if the Dutch had tried to play football and put Robben through the middle, they could have won that game. Robben had the Spanish central defense well beaten for pace. But they didn't. The Dutch went on the field with the intention of playing a physical game and that is what we got. The Spanish were more sinned against than sinners. The reason it was not a classic is simply because Holland went there to kill the Spanish game.

I don't know, but the Spanish flop as much as any side in the world..outside of maybe the Italians.

It got only got worse as the game wore on because referee Webb rewarded their faking..

It's like a plate umpire in baseball or an NBA ref. The players test them to see how much they can get away with. That's what the Spanish did with Webb, and unfortunately he let them know early that diving was going to be rewarded. If he had done the opposite and ignored their flopping, or even booked them for simulation, we would have had a much more free flowing match.

Spain were clearly the better team by a mile. Holland couldnt keep up and resulted to diving, hacking and bitching to the ref. I lost a lot of respect for the Oranje yesterday. Spain made they look foolish and deserved the title.

I thought the ref did a great job in a game that was very physical. Holland were lucky not to be down to 8 men at the end of the match. Anyone saying that the ref scewed the results in Spain's favor has no idea what they are talking about. Holland deserved every card they got and then some.

I didn't see it on TV, but did the parents run out on the pitch after the game, line up, and make the human tunnel for the players to run through?

They already did. Holland dove more than any other team I saw in this tournament. They dove more than Portugal and Italy and that is saying a lot.

You're the one who doesn't know what they're talking about. Strange that among all these cards that the Dutch supposedly deserved, not one Spanish player was ever REALLY hurt..despite their looks of utter agony every time a Dutch player came within a few inches.

The Spanish, or Barcelona, since that's what the Spain side really is, are well known worldwide as being divers and fakers. Try watching La Liga sometime and you'll see what I mean..

I watch La Liga and know that these players dive.

However, an injury is not required for a yellow card. Holland was hacking like crazy and not going for the ball.

Holland should have had a red card with De Jong's karate kick. It was clearly a red card offense. That would have ended the game as Spain likely would have scored 3 or 4 goals being up 1 man for nearly the entire match.

Gee, one example. That must mean the Dutch deserved every single card they got. It also must mean they deserved the bad call on what should have been a Dutch corner which led directly to the Spanish goal. It also proves the Spanish never dive..lol

You have to do better than that

Oh, and Iniesta shouldn't have even been on the pitch if Webb had been handling this match fairly.
