I've had it with these tacky europhile names in MLS. What's next, the Revolution are going to move to New Hampshire, start wearing red kits, and call themselves "Manchester United"?

Great Logo.

Am skeptical about the name change though. This Europhilia just doesn't really do anything to gain new fans.

I always found the US names to be tacky, Kansas City Wizards was a terrible name also as is New York Red Bulls as is New England Revolution. Its one name change, not exactly an epidemic of "Europhilia".

Sporting Kansas City is a stupid name, I would think Kansas City FC would work out MUCH better but then again it seems like I am not in the majority and dont need my team to have a tacky name to look at them.

"Kansas City FC" has even less identity. It's like a blank slate. They couldn't even think of a name at that point.

Iooono, as opposed to "Lions", "Tigers" and "Bears"?

I heard that the organization actually wants to have other sports (don't quote me) so it'd be an actual athletic club apparently.

This isnt just a name change, it is a completely rebrand of the team. OnGoal aka Sporting Club is planning on building an actual Sporting Club that will be involved in sports all over the Kansas City area and the midwest region. They are in talks to obtain a rugby club and will also be heavily involved in youth soccer all over the midwest.

In addition, the club will include members which are the fans. As members we will receive all kind of perks such as free tickets to all away matches we wish to attend, access to the state-of-the-art Members Club at the new stadium, and discounts from all the team's sponsors.

This isnt just an MLS trying to steal a European name because they thought it sounded cool, this is a complete change in path and philosophy by the team with a complex business plan.
