Might be worth consideration. The African Cup is played then, the Rugby World Cup is in the middle of our rugby season, and not every country's domestic league would actually be affected as much as the English one. The bidding process has proved the major European leagues don't have the clout they used to, and it's mainly for our benefit that the WC is played when it is, ditto most of the games being shown at sociable hours for us regardless of timezone - but for how much longer?
That has not proved anything of the sort. The European countries have much better traditions and stadiums and would put on a better WC than Qatar. What it does prove, even though FIFA wont admit it is that FIFA is corrupt to the core and alot of men made alot of money by awarding the WC to Qatar.

I rooted for Russia 2018 and Australia 2022!

Was THRILLED Russia scored - in fact me and some friends are talking about going there for that World Cup they're hosting! Just hope we got enough cash to make the trip!

But Qatar?! WTF?! Almost everyone I know is kinda ticked off by the decision and thinks its stupid beyond belief! The tiny size of the country is more than enough to cast doubts on their bid, never mind the fact that their per capita income is $70,000! GRRRR!

I've actually worked in Qatar, and the temperature certainly can be unbearable at times.

They say that they are going to have air con in all of the stadiums, but what are you going to do when the game is over? it's not likely that there are going to be bars close to the stadiums.

Imagine walking out of an air conditioned stadium into 100 degrees plus heat!

Well it seems that Blatter wants the World Cup in Qatar to be held in the winter, right in the middle of the European football season.

I agree with you, in fact a German lawyer has just resigned from FIFA's ethics commision in protest at the world football governing body's apparent failure to tackle corruption in it's ranks.

The 67 year old former president of Germany's highest appeals court said FIFA showed "no real interest" in trying to clean up the organisation.

A new world football organisation should be formed, one that's answerable to an independent oversight commitee.
