Saying there is no competition or excitement in the EPL. Chelsea lost 3-1 to Wigan then later on in the season beat them 8-0.

You still dont get it. He isnt talking about the individual games. He is talking about the overall competition of the league. You cannot make an argument that it is actually exciting when only two to four teams have a realistic shot at winning the title each year compared to a league where over half of the teams could win it.

look, his comment was ''Yes, this is what I was trying to say. I was talking about competition and not level of excitement or quality of the players. (E.g., a 6-0 blowout by ManU is exciting only for ManU fans.) Thanks'' he is saying a 6-0 win for man united against some team is only exciting for man united fans, but thats just not true, so how don't i get it? i replied to a comment!

We have UEFA Champions league places, Europa League places, Premier League, FA Cup, Carling Cup, Community Shield, Champions League itself, Europa League itself and the relegation battle.

FA Cup final is Stoke v Man City

League Cup final Arsenal 1-2 Birmingham

Birmingham are 15th and they have won a cup.

It's not all about winning the league, there are more competitions that can make a season.

But, in terms of winning the league, the excitement just isnt there. Those cups and tournament spots are consolation prizes.

I fail to see how there is no excitement in regards to winning the league. There is still technically 3 teams that can win the league.

Like London said there is more in the EPL that just winning the league. It is still a much better and exciting setup than MLS.

3 teams is exciting? What kind of ridiculously low standard is that? It would be far better if it were a 7 team race or 10 team race. Let me guess, you are entertained all day by playing with a paper clip too?

Having 20 teams start the season with only two or three teams having a chance to win the title because they outspent everyone is a better setup than everyone starting the season with similar payrolls and everyone having a chance to win. Having a three team race for the title is better than having triple that number fight for it? Please explain your logic behind that one.

A team's success on the field should be determined by playing better than the other team not by how much they spent over the other team. The winner of the EPL is decided more by how much the owners were willing to spend on wages and transfer fees more than anything. Teams that win the EPL purchase their championships, they do not win them.

The EPL at the very least needs a wage scale limitation, if not a stern salary cap.

in your opinion, PLENTY, i would say the vast majority of people love the EPL the way it is, and the mls will never have a world class team, unless they get a few breaking off from the pack, world football has always had it's big teams, the sports around 150 years old, it is fine the way it is, the people of england and elsewhere love the EPL, so if you have a problem with it, they clearly don't share it! you are trying to tell me you wouldn't rather have the same quality of the EPL in the MLS?

Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Spurs and Utd all had a chance realistically to win the league at the beginning of the season. 3 of those teams are in it to win it still.

The teams at the top dont just outspend other teams they have a much better youth acadamy than most of the other teams.

The league setup is a fair one in the EPL, maybe a wage cap but that still wont stop all the best players signing for who they sign for. England is much more than a one league setup like we have here in the MLS. There is ALOT that goes on during a league season that makes it exciting but you dont seem to have the capacity to understand that. The league as a whole is not just about who is going to win. Its about promotion, relegation, local derbys and rivalries.

If you just sit there and pay attention Man Utd you may get bored but if you look at the league as a whole it is much more exciting than the MLS setup. West Brom being a yo-yo the last few years has been extremely interesting to watch. I am a liverpool fan but watch football in England as a whole down to the Conference and it is way more exciting than any MLS Playoff that comes along. The MLS League structure is a complete joke.

English Premier League started in 1992 and here are the winners since then.

199293 Manchester United
199394 Manchester United
199495 Blackburn Rovers
199596 Manchester United
199697 Manchester United
199798 Arsenal
199899 Manchester United
19992000 Manchester United
200001 Manchester United
200102 Arsenal
200203 Manchester United
200304 Arsenal
200405 Chelsea
200506 Chelsea
200607 Manchester United
200708 Manchester United
200809 Manchester United
200910 Chelsea

Manchester United 11 times
Chelsea 3 times
Arsenal 3 times
Blackburn once

Yeah, a lot of excitement in that, eh? What about the other 150+ teams?
Saying that Spurs, City, Liverpool and anyone else has a chance to win the EPL is like leaving the porch light on for Jimmy Hoffa: ain't going to happen. You need stars to do that, and the stars will get bought by Chelsea and ManU long before a team gets built that can challenge.
