Everybody and their dog should sue FIFA if they switch it to a winter World Cup imho. Everybody that put in a bid, everybody that bought TV rights, image rights, tour companies.

I wonder at what point is changing the location of the 2022 World Cup not feasible for a country to host?

I was intrigued at first with Qatar getting the nod thinking it's a small country and having all of the venues in such close proximity would make things interesting and easier on the fans traveling. But then this business with moving it winter came up and that's a bad idea.

I dont think they could change the location. I reckon America probably only needs 2 years notice with the stadiums and transportation they have here.

I am sure they could change it at this point, but I bet Qatar would require compensation. I am sure they have sunk millions in so far, including their bid. In the end, I bet they don't change the location, FIFA ends up paying somebody, and it is it is one of the least attended World Cups in a long time. In the end, I am guessing FIFA will have wasted millions of dollars on a bad decision, but the show will go on.

I am sure Qatar sunk millions into bribes and other stuff so there is no way the WC will be switched. It should though, but it wont.

I just FIFA would give it up already and move the world cup to Australia.

First of all, Qatar is about the size of Rhode Island. I'm amazed they even had 5 cities to build soccer stadiums, but in retrospect, all the stadiums will end up being like 20 KM's from each other.....all in Doha more than likely. Second of all, it is hotter than hell there in the summer. Temperature's constantly in the 100's to 110's. Russia I don't have a problem with, Qatar is mind boggling. The thing I also don't get it is why not make it a multi-country event like Korea/Japan in 2002?? Play a couple in Qatar, play a couple in Bahrain, play a couple in the United Arab Emirates, a few in Kuwait, play a few in Oman. It's still the general Middle East vicinity and you won't have all the action in a 25 km radius.

Terrible decision by FIFA, absolutely brutal.

The multi country hosting thing in the middle east would never work. The biggest reason is that every country you let host the tournament automatically qualifies and the only nation not named iran that has footballing tradition in the middle east is saudi arabia and I doubt that FIFA would want to 2 give spots to 2 teams that probably would go out in the first round. Another big reason is the weather. even if you spread the tournament across the region all you've done is increase the amount of travel time while still having to put up with that same desert heat. the only viable option is to either move the competition to winter or move it some place else.
