Sporting KC’s stadium name is nearly pitch perfect - KansasCity.com (http://www.kansascity.com/2011/03/08/2709585/sporting-kcs-stadium-name-is-nearly.html#disqus_thread - broken link)

In the deal, money spent at the stadium will go to Livestrong and a guaranteed 7.5 million over 6 years will be given.

The name of the stadium - LIVESTRONG Sporting Park

I'm excited and glad my team didnt sell to the highest bidder.

Yeah, I am proud of it. I am dropping $500 on season tickets and I will be spending another $500 or so this year on concessions and other stuff in the stadium. So, it is nice to know that a portion of that goes to LIVESTRONG.

There was some people that speculated that the team couldnt find a sponsor that would pay so they settled but that is dead wrong. They have been chasing LIVESTRONG since they broke ground and turned down several offers of paying corporations because they wanted to do it.

still not used to "sporting" but I'm very glad for your SSS (soccer specific stadium). I hope this grows the game in KC.

what are the season ticket numbers right now? how's the rest of the projected attendance?

if I remember it seats about 20,000 like most SSS. I saw the renderings and it looked well done.

Seemed to have good attendance and excitment at the ballpark they were at before but hard to judge b/c it was so small.

The capacity is 18,500 and we currently have 9,000 full season ticket holders.

Can't really project attendance as single game tickets have not gone on sale yet but I imagine we will be pretty close to sold out most games for at least this season.

We sold out almost every game when we were at CAB. The only time we didnt was when the weather was horrible.

I don't follow MLS too close but that sounds like a fairly normal number of season tickets sold.

Please explain to me how a team donating their naming rights to an organization attempting to find a cure for cancer is terrible? Several million dollars is going to be donated for a great cause.

yeah that is great if its going to a good cause, that was what was great about barcelona paying unicef to advertise on their shirts, it would be bad say if a team done a deal with sony or something, i think its very admirable of them for doing it with a organisation that is trying to find a cure for cancer
