Foreign owners of English Premier League oppose relegation system - ESPN

I can't imagine this will sit well with the 'traditionalists'. I think its terrible, I wish American teams would have relegation.

I'm pretty sure they knew all about promotion and relegation when they purchased the clubs, so why should it be changed now to protect their financial interests? I bet a few of the owners used the relegation rule to their advantage when negotiating their purchase.

Promotion and relegation add a different dimension and more excitement to a league, couldn't imagine any European top league without it.

Hopefully not but you never know, if a league gets dominated by a lot of foreign owners and they band together then it is possible.

This is what killed teams in many American cities. See Buffalo, Cinncinatti, LA Clippers, KC Royals, Pirates, etc.
