They look like they don't want to play in these European games, or is that just a part of the plan?
With a home European performance like this, it's not surprising United are only playing in the Europa League. What do you think infinitekid?
Not sure what to say. I mean I can't belief the gaffer told them to play mediocre football and just wait until the time runs out. I would have hoped they learned their lesson re underestimating smaller clubs. And their at home...you always want to win at home. From what I gathered the midfield wasn't gelling-might be from lack of playing, i.e. park and cleverly.

That wasn't a stellar performance at all. Started out well but went downhill after we scored, I think United thought they were through at that point and the desire to play left them. I didn't really pay much attention to the last 1/2 hour though.

Man United looked good at periods during the 1st half but as infinitekid pointed out it was like Fergie tried to protect the lead instead of taking the game by the scruff of the neck, they were lucky to get through in the end.

Exactly. These guys aren't that young as Ferguson tried to defend them.
Rafael and Fabio have been there for a few seasons, Smalling is in his 2nd with Utd, Jones have PL experience too.
So we are not talking the players that have played for reserves and were sudenly called up for the senior team.
These players should be regular first team players in a season or two (Rio, Vidic & Evra are aging).
I want them to prove me wrong, but for now I can say they are not the defenders you can count on week in and week out in the future.
Maybe I am bit too critical (and I admit I only watched 2nd half yesterday), but to only have 1 or 2 shots on goal in the second half is just not normal for Man Utd.
Either these guys are lazy or this is their limit....only time will tell.
Fact is there are not much money to spend on new players so it better be they are just getting laid sometimes when they play "smaller" teams especialy in European games .

Just saw that cleverly has been sent for a scan after the Ajax game. I hate to say this but it looks like he's another player made of glass. There always seems to be two kinds of players...glass or not. Everyone expects them to recover and not have problems but they always do...Owen, Hargreaves, etc. list goes on and on.

[quote=infinitekid;23124192] I hate to say this but it looks like he's another player made of glass.

I thought the same when I heard the news this morning.
And he had such a promising start of the season. Let's hope he'll be fine....long term wise

An Ajax comeback at Old Trafford would have been epic!
