A transfer of Robbie Keane from Tottenham to MLS is expected to be completed today. As part of the deal, Juan Pablo Angel will be traded to Chivas USA to free up the third DP slot. Rumor is the transfer fee will be 4.8 million which is one of the highest the MLS has ever paid for a player.

I think he will do pretty good in MLS. I was speaking to me dad about this yesterday. He had heard the rumor, I didnt. It will be good to kick start his career again. Playing for Ireland and not league football has got to take its toll. So long as he does not have a big head he will be OK.

Good signing by the Galaxy, nice bit of business, he'll be just as good if not more at the Galaxy than what Henry is at the red bulls, Keane could have easily signed for most EPL sides outside the top 6, he'll do the business in the MLS

If they signed him two years ago i would have said great singing but recently his form and performances have dipped. If they get back up to what he was or near there then he will be a good signing but otherwise might be a waste.

He was playing for a top 6 club in the best league in the world. So, yeah his form has dipped but only in that environment. For 95% of the teams in the world he would be a started and a good one at that.

He will be one of the biggest scoring threats in MLS. We lack strikers with composure and he has just that. Strikers that can hold the ball and create chances do well in MLS and he has that ability.

Yes, Keane is a world-class striker but one who has shifted clubs nearly every season. Hopefully he settles in and shows the MLS strikers how to keep composed before goal.

Wolverhamton Wolves 1997-99
Coventry City 1999-2000
Internazionale (Italy) 2000-01 (six matches)
Leeds United 2000-2003
Tottenham 2003-2008
Liverpool 2008-2009
Tottenham 2009-2010
Celtic 2009-2010
Tottenham 2010-2011
West Ham United 2010-2011
LA Galaxy 2011-??

Hard to keep up with him.

That list is a little misleading. If you take out the loan spells of the last couple of years, the list is pretty short. He has spent a majority of this career at Leeds and Tottenham.

He has been turfed around a lot, thats for sure. One of his biggest problems in his earlier days is that he was not that much of a team player IMHO but that did change in recent years. He should do good over here once he climatises(sp) and whatever.

Yeah Id agree with that Rj, he's had stints at other clubs, but Tottenham's his club, that's why the fans love him, he spent the majority of his time there, if the Galaxy get half the goals and playing time Spurs got, then it's a great buy
