That small and petty league you refer to bob is still 10x better than Irelands, we as a league have produced tons of European winning clubs, finalists and semi finalists and all from a country a similar size tou yours.

Its the two teams in the league that make it what it is Paul. Celtic are probaly considered more Irish then Scottish to be honest. They are not and I wouldn't consider them Irish at all but tell that to the rest of the world.

Celtic and Rangers will not joint he PL. Its not worth it for the PL anyway. What two teams should lose the right to play in the PL. The PL would gain very little from them joining.

Three Scottish clubs have won UEFA competitions. Celtic won the 1967 European Cup Final, then lost the 1970 European Cup Final. The highest ever attendance for a UEFA competition match was in the 1969-70 European Cup semi-final at Hampden Park, Scotland's National stadium. A record 136,505 people attended that Cup semi-final played between Celtic and Leeds United. Celtic also reached the 2003 UEFA Cup Final, which they lost after extra time. Rangers won the 1972 European Cup Winners' Cup Final, and have also reached other finals, most recently the 2008 UEFA Cup Final. Aberdeen won the 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup Final and then also won the consequent 1983 UEFA Super Cup. Both Celtic and Rangers have qualified for the group stages of the UEFA Champions League. Dundee United reached the 1987 UEFA Cup Final, Dundee FC got to the semi finals of the European cup.

Wee bit of history about my beloved team!

"Anderlecht and the prolific Dundee promised to be the tie of the round. The Belgians were now considered one of the favourites for the trophy, but they were brushed aside by the Scots in the same way that Koln and Sporting Lisbon had been in the previous rounds. A first minute goal in Brussels for Dundee set the tone for the tie with an almost unassailable 4-1 first leg lead. With a 2-1 victory at Dens Park, Dundee completed a 6-2 aggregate score line that now forced the whole of Europe to take them seriously as realistic contenders.
In the second semi-final, Dundee and AC Milan were to fight it out for the right to take on the holders at Wembley Stadium wit AC eventually making it to the final"

I have wondered if Scottish football would be better off without them. Look beyond a couple of big games and TV money, and imagine an exciting league where several clubs from several cities had a realistic chance of winning it. NFL type rules to share talent and money, with wages dependent on income, and no club able to buy the title. Sounds a bit like England before Man Utd and the oligarchs.

League of Ireland is still a good league to watch though, id much rather watch part timers of Shelbourne vs Junkies than a Man Utd game. But thats just me, I am a football fan first and hate commercialism.

Irish football has 3 major problems that are pretty unique to Ireland. 1) FAI are as corrupt as hell and dont put cash into Irish Football. 2) The false sense of national pride many people have in Ireland that involves their love of English football, which we all know can be seen on these boards too unfortunately. 3) Celtic. Theyre Irish ? Apparently so anyway which makes me sick, theyre Scottish. Id gladly give Scotland Glasgow back if yous can hook us up with Belfast.

That been said I still have a soft spot for Killie and do like to watch Scottish football but id rather anything but a Glasgow derby.

Well Scottish football will be pretty much without one of them for a few years at least =) Dont the UEFA rules kick in next year ?? The transfer policy and revenue.

irelands league is and always has been amateur and dont forget northern ireland also has a seperate amateur league so both are much smaller than scotlands , my post supports the idea of the big two moving to the EPL , when i say its petty , i mean their is a large focus on petty issues like sectarianism , most people view that kind of thing as being for losers nowadays , celtic and rangers moving south would also give the other teams a new incentive , the league could become interesting
