Sorry to disappoint, but we don't want or need them. Having worked so hard to get racism out of English football, why would we invite their nasty hatred in?

There is also the small matter of promotion and relegation. Any non-league club can aspire to play in the Football League, and work towards that over a period of years. Which English teams should be relegated to allow these foreign clubs in?

As Scotland moves towards independence, allowing Rangers and Celtic to join English leagues will appear ever more ridiculous.

I would also add that it would hold only slight benefit to Rangers and Celtic. Neither would be able to compete for the top spot. Neither would see European competition again.

Surely Celtic being "Irish" would be more interested in playing in the League of Ireland ?
