Actually, it isnt. You are changing the geographical name of the team by calling it Kansas and picking out the middle word of three. It makes you look uneducated and foolish.

Kansas is in your name bro, end of story. I can and will call your team Kansas, just like others will. Doesn't make me look "uneducated and foolish" in any way, its in your name. Like I said, your teams due another name change anyway so it probably wont make a difference in a few years

I have to agree that "Kansas" and "Kansas City" are not interchangeable in this case. KC is largely in Missouri, so the team officially represents an area not covered by the "Kansas" moniker.

Calling them "Sporting" would be far more analogous to calling Manchester United simply "United."

Just a name bro, its in the teams name so I shortened it. I mean I do understand, I would be embarrassed to be associated with Kansas too but they can just change the name again anyway, right ?

Yes, Kansas is in the name but it is the middle word. You do not shorten phrases by using the middle word. Would you refer to Real Salt Lake as just Salt? Would you refer to San Jose Earthquakes as Jose? What if we refer to New York Red Bulls as either York or Red?

It does make you look uneducated because referring to the team as "Kansas" is inaccurate. The team does not represent Kansas, it represents Kansas City. Referring to the team as Kansas reflects your lack of geographical knowledge which is something that is learned in elementary school.

Referring to the team as Sporting or Kansas City is accurate or even Wizards is more accurate then just Kansas.
