European football's governing body Uefa is considering ditching the Europa League in favour of extending the Champions League from 32 to 64 teams.
"We're discussing it. We will make a decision in 2014. Nothing is decided yet," Uefa president Michel Platini told French newspaper Ouest-France.*

It means seven English clubs and five Scottish teams could enter at a qualifying round stage.
Uefa is looking at changing the format of European competitions from 2015.

Sounds good to me! What you think?

I don't see any issues with this proposed change (though I have no opposition to Europa League).

I think they should give the winner of the Europa League a Champions League spot. That would make teams fight for it and want to win it. The reason teams are not bothered is because it is **** money but if they award a CL place to the winner, it wont then be about **** money, it would be about the CL spot.

I would not have any big issues if they expanded the Champions League and eliminated the Europa League. I mean sure the Europa League is nice, but in the end it's just a second class tournament. Kind of like the NIT here in the US for Mens basketball.

I really hope if they expand this, more teams from Eastern Europe will at least make the group stages. I am talking teams from Russia, Greece, Turkey, Ukraine, Romania, Poland, etc. I like when those teams make some noise in the Champions League and give the big boys from England, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Portugal and Netherlands some trouble.

It's all about the money: if you see the differences between Europa League and Champions League revenues, that's just sick.

Anyway, I'm not certainly not against the proposal: at least teams from smaller leagues would not run the risk of already being eliminated in the knockout qualifying rounds and thus losing millions of euros.

I think it takes it even further away from being the Champions League. They should probably re-name it.

Yeah definitely not a Champions League at all, hasnt been for years though they just need to rename it the European Cup or the European World Series Cup lmao ... anyway.

Why have two competitions, they should just have one so they can fix it so that all the big teams get through to the knockout stages by avoiding each other.
