The CITY of Detroit is bankrupt, NOT the citizens, football supporters, or possible owners of a MLS franchise. The CITY of Detroit going bankrupt has ZERO to do with putting a team there, nada. The CITY was never going to invest one penny, MLS club would be privately financed.

Do you believe that the Tigers, Red Wings or Lions are also bankrupt because the CITY of Detroit is? Do you believe that the 5 or so million people in Metro Detroit are eating dirt because of there proximity to Detroit city proper? If you do, then you'd be a perfect fit for a Detroit City council or mayor because thats the kind of ignorance and backward thinking that got Detroit to its present state.

As far as Grand Rapids, goes, its simple demographics. Or ask yourself, why are the 4 major north American sports teams in or around Detroit, not GR?

Heard on the radio that Miami is getting a MLS franchise with Beckham leading the way, hope they build a stadium in South Beach.

south beach doesn't have any space. it's like asking a team to build a stadium in the middle of times square. the best spot for a stadium is somewhere in allapattah.

Really, New Orleans has a better shot at NASL or USL. I doubt the MLS will be knocking anytime soon.

Times Square? Guess you've never been to South Beach?

Flamingo Park is 30 plus acre's, that's a whole lotta space in almost the middle of SOUTH BEACH.

Yeah, except its already in use by hundreds of locals every day. It has pools, tennis courts, kids recreation areas, sports fields...there is no way the city would ever entertain the idea of bulldozing that for an MLS stadium. The public outrage would be immense.

Joseph Goodman: David Beckham’s MLS team should be in South Beach - Soccer | Fútbol - MiamiHerald.com

The suburbs are boring, no atmosphere, just park your car, watch match, go home. Would rather be downtown near restaurants, nightlife where can do other things before and after the match...

That's an extremely illogical location for a sports stadium.
