Here is an example, this guy won't shave his beard until a Washington DC team wins a championship. He includes Redskins, Wizards, Capitals and nationals. When I asked him about DC United, the most successful team in DC, he told me he doesn't include them. As if they don't exist.

So, if MLS were to raise up to your quality of standards, would you support and watch?

Soccer fans in the US (and Canada) are really a dull lot. They sure don't know how to celebrate championships like our other sports do which sounds snobbish to me.

After the Detroit Tigers won the 1984 World Series, more than 40 fans were arrested, many more were injured, three rapes were reported and one man was murdered.

About 10,000 Denver Broncos fans caused millions of dollars in damage after their team won the Super Bowl after the 1998 season.

Los Angeles had riots after the Lakers won NBA titles in 2000, 2009 and 2010.

Boston seems America’s capital of violent sports rioting: one death after the Patriots won the Super Bowl in 2004, another after the Red Sox won the 2004 American League pennant, another after the Celtics won the NBA title in 2008.

Vancouver recently after Stanley Cup loss (2011?)

1992 "Bulls' NBA Victory Sparks Chicago Riots". Washington Post. June 16, 1992. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/sports/nba/longterm/jordan/articles/riot92.htm.

2006 – Stanley Cup Western Conference Finals (Edmonton Oilers victory), May 2006, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

I don't hate MLS at all but historically my biggest beef with the league has always revolved around the dumb names and what I perceive to be a lack of self awareness and resorting to stupid gimmicks (not as bad nowadays).

I don't know, when a small business is just getting started stupid gimmicks can bring people in and create buzz and interest. I was fine with what they did, just to get teh league off teh ground.

I am saying that a US/Mexico friendly at Azteca is, yes.

How did you enjoy Milan's constant futile longballs yesterday? Are you turned off of Italian football now?
