Yes, only San Marino and Liechtenstein all the way. : smack: Even Belarus, which finished last, would be quite good in CONMEBOL.
Now now, that's taking it a bit too far Belarus would be the weakest team in CONMEBOL. It has a similar ranking to Bolivia but at least Bolivia have the advantage of players nearly suffocating when they play there. Poland, Israel, Slovakia, Finland, Albania, Montenegro, etc. are all better than Bolivia according to the FIFA ranking which Sophie keeps referencing I think we should be outraged that these world class European teams won't have a chance to shine at the WC. The WC just isn't complete without Albania

People tend to underestimate Belarus a lot and think that they're just another Eastern European midget. Half of the players plays in the Russian league (which is really good), and the other half in BATE, which is almost every year in the Champions League and beat teams like Bayern München last season.

Even teams that stand little hope of qualifying, like Hungary, Norway and Ireland, have a lot of players playing in the Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A and so on, and can shake anyone when having a good day. The South Americans don't understand it at all, and when Spartak Moscow says nothing to them, or can't place Georgia on the map, it just means that they're crap and goes on with this San Marino gospel.

Yeah, the WC is nothing without Slovakia and Finland. UEFA should have 27 places.

But Colombia will play NL and Belgium in November, so we'll see.
NL? is that suppose to mean the dutch? I've always seen the dutch team abbreviated as NED or in spanish HOL.

The only reason you laugh is because you clearly don't have a clue how UEFA qualifiers work, nor do you care. It's much easier to whine about how CONMEBOL qualifiers are oh so hard and European teams only have to beat the likes of Andorra and San Marino in order to make it to the WC.

Please tell me which CONMEBOL teams would finish #1 in these UEFA groups and hence qualify directly for the WC:

Belgium
Croatia
Paraguay

Italy
Denmark
Ecuador

Germany
Sweden
Uruguay

Netherlands
Romania
Venezuela

Russia
Portugal
Peru

England
Ukraine
Bolivia

Spain
France
Chile

I argue that no team apart from Argentina and Brazil stands a chance of qualifying directly if they were part of UEFA, unless one of them gets extremely lucky and draws the weakest group (like Group E this time). In the scenarios above:

Belgium > Paraguay
Croatia > Paraguay

^ Paraguay doesn't even get a play-off spot.

Italy > Ecuador
Denmark > Ecuador

^ Ecuador can't rely on home advantage to qualify, you have to win more than just home games in order to finish first or second. Ecuador doesn't get play-off spot.

Germany > Uruguay
Sweden = Uruguay

^ Uruguay has no chance in hell of finishing ahead of Germany but they will probably fight with Sweden for the play-off spot.

Netherlands > Venezuela
Romania = Venezuela

^ Netherlands is clearly ahead of Venezuela by a long shot. Venezuela might have a shot at the play-off spot but they'll face heavy competition from Romania and Turkey.

Russia > Peru
Portugal > Peru

^ Don't think I have to explain this one. Peru is hopeless.

England > Bolivia
Ukraine > Bolivia

^ Bolivia can't rely on home advantage to finish first or second as it won't be sufficient. England and Ukraine are clearly ahead in terms of footballing skill, and so are Montenegro and Poland (the other teams in the group).

Spain > Chile
France = Chile

^ Spain is obviously superior to Chile so Chile can forget about direct qualification. France tends to be a little shaky in the qualifiers so they might have a shot at the play-off spot.

Keep in mind that even finishing second in the group doesn't guarantee you a PO spot because the worst runner-up is eliminated automatically. This is how UEFA qualifiers work. Teams like San Marino and Andorra don't even enter the picture, in fact the results against them are deducted when determining the final score for the runner-ups.
in terms of quality, sweden isnt remotely equal with uruguay. in fact, uruguay are on level with the germans. bolivia is certainly stronger than ukraine. peru and russia are equals. paraguay is better than croatia and equal with belgium.

Uruguay are close to the germans but still not quite equals. bolivia are certainly better than ukraine if they play in la paz... but not if they played in a neutral ground. peru are not equal with russia or even portugal, they are a decent side that would probably qualify in an average qualifying group but not that group. yeah paraguay is better than croatia but there not equal to belgium, let's not get carried away now.
the one you forgot was chile. Chile is slightly better than France and slightly worse than Spain but given the fact that they are so close any which one of them could finish first and any which one could finish 3rd.

You must be trolling.

I'm glad you agree that all CONMEBOL teams (apart from BRA/ARG obviously) would struggle to qualify if they were part of UEFA because none of them are better than the #1 in their group. Even though you massively overrated the SA teams, you can't get around that. Which proves my point that UEFA qualifiers are harder

NED is the official abbreviation, mostly used in sports. NL is what most people use in everyday speech. HOL is wrong.

not in spanish it isn't. We only have 2 names for your country and neither one has an NED in it. The first one is Países Bajos which translated to english means the lowland countries, yes belgium is part of them but in spanish we generally reserve it for the dutch. The 2nd one is by far the most common and it's Holanda which is why it's abbreviated as HOL. I don't know why there isn't a netherlands or something of the sort but it is what it is.

Put Oceania with Asia and keep Europe the same.
