There's only 2 teams in England, 1 in France, 2 in Germany, 2 in Portugal, 2 in Holland, 2 in Spain, 1 in Ukraine etc that will be winning their respective leagues in the near future also so why does Scotland, a small country, always get highlighted?
a loss to European football , hardly , neither of the big Glasgow team pose even a remote threat in the champions league or Europa league
Both old firm teams have got to the final of European competitions in the last decade. Aberdeen, Celtic and Rangers all have European trophies. Remind me of any Irish teams with a similar record?

When was the last time anybody in Scotland won the league outside of the Old Firm ? Thats why Scotland always gets mentioned, they usually blow the rest of the league away.
Late 80s. People act like other countries aren't similar though! All over the world there are dominant teams. What I am saying is for the size of our country there is no disputing we have punched above our weight. Even Aberdeen, Dundee and Dundee United not just the old firm. It has fizzled out in recent times but there have still been FOUR DIFFERENT teams from Scotland in European finals in the last 25 years, that's pretty good if you ask me.
1984/85 season, thats almost 30 years! Thats why Scotland always get singled out.
They have pulled off some good performances, so has Shelbourne though. Draw with Deportivo etc.
Irish teams dont have that success and will never have that success. Irish football has corrupt GAA and Celtic and English football to compete with. Ask your avg Irish gob****e football fan who their favourite Irish team is and theyll say Celtic :| Irish football doesnt stand a chance that even Scottish football has.
I've always wondered why football couldn't fallow the american approach of having drafts and salary caps. look at the NFL and NBA. In the NFL there have been 18 different champs in the NBA there have been 16 different champs. how can it be so different in football/soccer.

LOI fans are happy with what we got at the minute. We know the country will never have a chance on the big stage. The league is open a fair bit. Sligo are the best team by far but then you have the likes of Derry, Shamrock Rovers and Pats all in the frame and of course, your Shelbourne Brian
