That was the case in the last edition, in 2012, when Chelsea, the winner of the Champions League, was defeated in the finals by Corinthians, the winner of the Libertadores, by 1-0
5 out of the last 6 tournaments have been won by European teams. Still not a good competition to watch though, all it does is add fixtures congestion to the participants from Europe.

The FIFA Club World Cup is even less relevant to Europeans than the Confederations Cup.

But of course, the South American teams are so much better than the European teams. That is why the best players from all over the world (especially Europe) can't wait to play in South America.

The Club World Cup is about as interesting as the Belgian third division. Which means not at all.

Oh yeah, sure...

That's because the BEST TEAM IN EUROPE (the winner of the Chapions League) participates on it, and it often LOSES the final match to a South American team...

So, you have the "champion of Champions" of Europe playing against a South American team that many times is SO GOOD that it even defeats the European champion, and you still think the Cup is not interesting at all?

They have to play in the tournament dont they ? And by often lose you mean they lost twice. Out of the last 9 tournaments a European team won it 5 times. So more often SA teams lose to European teams.

And who won in 2005?

And in 2006?

In 2005 the winner was São Paulo FC from Brazil

In 2006 the winner was SC Internacional from Brazil

Then you have 5 editions, from 2007 to 2011, with European champions...

Then, in 2012, who wins?

SC Corinthians, from Brazil, was the winner in 2012!

OK, let me remind you a thing...

Between 1960 and 2004 there was the Intercontinental Cup, that was the precursor of the Clubs World Cup...

The Intercontinental Cup had only two clubs: the winner of Europe and the winner of South America.

Guess what?

There were 43 editions of the Intercontinental Cup (there was no Cup in 1975 and 1978), and out of the 43 editions, South American clubs won 22 editions, and the European clubs only won 21 editions!

Then, in 2005, the Intercontinental Cup was replaced by the FIFA Clubs World Cup, and in the two first editions, the winners were clubs from Brazil!

My point is: why people value the UEFA Champions League so high, and appear to ignore the Libertadores Cup?

And let me remind you again that back then nobody cared and even now nobody cares. If you wanna brag on a tournament that nobody cares about to make your ePenis larger thats cool with me but I cant tell you the last time I watched the highlights of a WCC game nevermind a whole game.
