City did already buy a title, and they're certainly a favorite to do it again this year after one season in the purgatorial depths of second place.

You can pull out any cliche you like about chemistry and egos, but when you are able to play the completely different game that Chelsea can under Abramovich and City can under Mansour, you have an unfair advantage, period, and I think each team's trophy cabinet reflects that. It is not something to be celebrated and cheered, it is something to be very, very worried about.

I have my doubts that Financial Fair Play will be able to truly reign in the kind of "un-earned" spending that Chelsea and City have enjoyed. The skeptic in my suspects that it will be like paying taxes - the haves will figure out ways to get around it, while the gap with the have-nots just continues to grow.
Chelsea actually posted a profit last year.

Its a sad world when a Utd fan is more optimistic than a Liverpool fan that Liverpool can do it. Liverpool are bottlers. They can do good against the bigger teams but tend to drop points against lesser teams. Ill buy you a beer if we do win though.

I've never seen a more remote possibility of a free beer.

And this is exactly what I'm referring to.

Their net transfer spend has been ungodly, yet they somehow "posted a profit?"

I know a lot more goes into it than that, but really, just look at the numbers. It's more than a bit unbelievable. But of course, there are ways to make numbers say whatever you want them to say. Which, again, is exactly why I don't think FFP will be able to have nearly as much of an impact as it needs to.

I doubt Chelsea actually posted any kind of profit too. Financial Fair Play, so long as your club is small enough to abide by the rules.
