They're more like dancers for the drunks to ogle during the interminable breaks in action.
Here are some.

If there was any indicator that the MLS needs to improve and that we are still a young league, this should give you a clue.

Man U just humiliated the LA galaxy with a 7-0 win!

The MLS should stop these games immediately. It's a no win situation for them. If they win the game it's because the EPL team is not in form yet. If they lose... well, you get responses like yours.

The truth of the matter is yes the EPL is much better. The best league in the world. The problem is that Bruce Arena, the LA coach, NEVER takes any non-MLS game seriously. That is why LAG gets beat by the likes of the Carolina Railhawks in the US Open Cup and Club Tijuana in the CCL. Who can blame him? Why lose Donovan to a ACL tear, for example, in a meaningless friendly during the middle of the season?

SKC and TFC looked respectable against Man City and Tottenham. Chicago or the NYRB beat one of the Euro teams and Seattle tied Tottenham. Lets make sure we tell the whole story.....

Why MLS teams do friendly matches in the middle of the season? It seems stupid to say the least. Friendly matches should be reserved for pre-season prep.

They should not stop them for the a few reasons.
1) It packs a stadium for ripoff tickets that brings in money to the local team
2) There is a chance you can get some people who hang on and see a local game at a later date, building fanbase.

Anybody that knows anything about football knows that these friendlies are meaningless to the English club outside of getting match fitness and money from jersey purchases and appearance fees. The actual result holds no weight at all. The only thing I find bad about them is there is some stupid trophy for playing, The New York Cup and Super Duper International Cup of Champions or whatever its called, gimmie a break ....

Its the only time a big English team will come over. Id be ticked if my MLS team was playing a friendly and put out a full squad though. The actual friendly itself is good for the coffers though.

Well, which is to say, it's a pure marketing move. It does nothing to benefit the performance of the teams though, it's a sort of sacrifice of the players for the league.

Yeah purely a marketing move but every country does it, theyll bow to a bigger team wanting a friendly. Im sure the revenue is good though.

These games are purely moneymaking.. they help your clubs get more money! Also great for us as commercial monsters like Man utd have fanbases all over the world and make millions from travelling there

I wonder if they do halftime shows. At Fire games they sometimes have kids play or contests on the field. Never saw cheerleaders.
