So, my early predictions:

Group A 1. Brazil 2. Croatia
Group B 1. Spain 2. Holland
Group C 1. Columbia 2. Japan
Group D 1. Italy 2. Uruguay
Group E 1. France 2. Ecuador
Group F 1. Argentina 2. Nigeria
Group G 1. Germany 2. Portugal
Group H 1. Belgium 2. South Korea

Round of 16:
Brazil over Holland
Uruguay over Columbia
France over Nigeria
Germany over South Korea

Spain over Croatia
Italy over Japan
Argentina over Ecuador
Belgium over Portugal

Quarterfinals:
Brazil over Uruguay
Germany over France

Italy over Spain
Argentina over Belgium

Semifinals:
Germany over Brazil
Argentina over Italy

Third Place:
Brazil over Italy

Champions:
Argentina over Germany

I keep going back and forth on the result in the final, but I think that while Germany has fewer weaknesses, Argentina has that unmatchable attack and the home continent where European teams have never won yet.

Well, I predicted right all the playoff results and warned that FIFA made a poor decision regarding distribution of pots in the draw.

It turns out we got some very competitive groups and others, well, for the lack of a better word, unimpressive, even for first round. I knew this was going to happen.

Brazil group is not that difficult, but they will face Spain or Holland in the round of 16. WTH?

And Argentina group is like a breeze and they will play against another unimpressive team in the round of 16, probably Equator or Switzerland.

How about group D? That's way more competitive than any other death group so far.

Oh boy.

I hadn't even thought about the fact that we're likely to face Brazil in the R16 if we progress from our group. In that case, the draw isn't so nice after all Defeating Spain and Brazil in a WC may be asking for too much.

Wow!

Three world champions in the same group: Italy, Uruguay and England!

And we're going to have another Brazil vs Mexico match here in Fortaleza again, just like in the Confederations Cup!

LOL!!

I know, pathetic.

From Spain, Holland and Brazil, only one goes to the quarters.

From England, Italy and Uruguay, only one goes to the quarters.

It looks like if Germany or Argentina can't win this one, they can give up trying. Piece of cake.

Jeez, there goes 4 years of waiting for nothing.
