The popular sentiment this year is to hate on Brazil. I love Brazilians but I have always hated that people especially other Latin Americans always side with their team claiming they are "our brothers" which they are not. Brazilians have never supported other Latin American teams. As we can see in this World Cup Brazilians are betting against Latin American teams and even support mediocre European teams. If they are so great why not compete with the best? Why bet against Argentina? Because they want an easy win but unfortunate for them unless the Netherlands wins, they are probably gonna have to work harder. My hope is that they get eliminated by Germany.

In my opinion all 4 teams deserve to be in the semifinals. Yes others that have also been eliminated could have been there too but there are only 4 spots.

Out of the 4 teams the Netherlands has the most predictable unoriginal game. So in my opinion Netherlands is the only team who does not deserve to win and I don't want Brazil to win because I hate their fans and their idiotic coach.
So you are saying that you are trashing the thread with off topic comments based on your hate to Brazilian fans on the basis of your own very personal experience and opinion?

I see

Let's talk about the WC and let the hate aside. Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion about soccer fans but that's not what this thread should be about.

Just a couple of things from my experience.

Yes, Brazilians want Argentina to lose, just like Argentinians want Brazil to lose. They hate each other from a soccer perspective...I assume Sophie could add to this.

You saw the groups of Argentinians marching around Copacabana with models of spines after Neymar got hurt (relishing the injury), right? It's just a huge rivalry, they want each other to fail...just like Green Bay Packer fans love it when the Chicago Bears suck, and vice versa.

A lot of Brazilians were backing Costa Rica on their magical run, everyone was saying "Pura Vida" on Facebook.

For me it's just the opposite. I'm so unenthused about what remains of the Cup. I guess it's because I'm not too happy about the 4 teams that made it this far.

I was like that too until I realized what a cool final would be between all the teams. Imagine a holland win!

Re: Neymar plays jogo bonito

Not anymore...;-)...and just saying Brazil has the most fouls in the tournament. Of course they have to protect themselves because everybody is after them. Frankly they just don't seem to playing 'beautiful games' ...really more like ugleeeeee. They play differently now than in previous World Cups.

The match today will be interesting along this score. You can bet Brazil will never let the Germans be 'comfortable'. The tackles and fouls will be there. Why? They want to win.
