After those results, I'm no longer very impressed with Germany and the Netherlands.

But France is still impressive.
France won 3-0 against one of the worst teams in the tournament
Australia > Honduras and Spain > Switzerland.

You can add Honduras to the already eliminated list,
don't see them winning with 3 goals difference against Switzerland.

France did really well and are the only team that seems to be riding along smoothly. Everyone else has had a difficult time

Really? And who was that?

I do seem to recall a certain someone who said the Netherlands were not even a second tier team and would get kicked out of the WC by Chile.

I also seem to recall someone who trashed CONCACAF at every opportunity and felt they were so inferior to CONMEBOL. Meanwhile, USA, Costa Rica and Mexico haven't lost a single match so far. What do you have to say about that?

oh well

i think they are amazing: chile and colombia. but its nothing southamericans didnt know before. just europe and usa discovering the obvious.

Argentina and Brazil underperforming but still superpowers who can wake up any minute.
Pretty much everyone knew Chile and Colombia were dark horses before the WC started. There's a reason group B was considered the group of death (it wasn't because of Australia) and why Colombia got a seed. The only discussion was about whether South America deserved more berths than it has now, and based on the performances of Ecuador (#4) and Uruguay (#5) so far, I'm still not convinced they do.

I love that though. All the games have been practically grudge matches. This cup is like Hunger Games compared to South Africa.
Well its the top 32 teams in the world. Its an anything can happen game. Thats what makes it fun to watch. Some groups will come down to the wire.

Chile very well could have drawn, or even lost their first match against Australia. Apart from a somewhat questionable no goal for Australia and two bad defensive lapses in the first half, it was very competitive match.
