Ghana has sent Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari home for poor team behavior. I don't think they were playing particularly well anyway so it may not hurt.

But these behavioral issues at World Cups astound me. If there is ever a time for a footballer to be on his best behavior, it's at World Cups.

But this isn't nearly as bad as the Nasri, Evra, French embarrassments, or Roy Keane putting shame on himself and Ireland.

All those players want is money money money money, fair enough but sort it before you get there. If you go you are expected to perform. Roy Keane, thanks for bringing that scumbag up .... lol

Suarez suspended 9 games by FIFA and banned from all football related activities (including club games) for 4 months.

Too light in my eyes.

Too light? There are several uncalled, bruising elbows every game that do more damage than that little nip.

I love soccer/futbol but it is by far the worst officiated sport in the world.

It's not so much the harm done by this particular bite...it's the fact that it's a repetitive action by Suarez and he needs to be taught that it's unacceptable. It was clearly not an accident and he has a past history of biting and racism.

As crazy as Balotelli is, even he doesn't bite.

Either that or he had some money on France and Switzerland qualifying.

The only thing I dont like about the punishment is the fine. 4 months is fair enough, thats a LOT of football and training he is missing out on. The fine is peanuts though.

I know about Saurez history.

But in general, why is biting and spitting penalized many times more harshly than violent sporting behavior that really does hurt opponents?

Broken legs, cracked eye orbitals = red card and a game or two suspension. Teeth marks and saliva on face = month bans or more.
