I can only comment on two countries, but i think the answers are obvious. My in-laws in Brazil are going crazy, they can't wait. So much excitement, but also concern that something will go wrong and they will make a mess of it. Here in the US, interest grows each year, but it is still nothing like the NFL. There are tons of people that just don't care, but I am finding more and more people that do care. In one sentence, I feel more excitement in the US and Brazil is always crazy for the WC.
One month till the WC and we are feeling it already....you can sense the WC talk in every corner, named in every tv-show, every commercial. Today Sabellas list (wich it was obvious it wouldnt have any surprises) announcing the 30 men squad was on tv and everyone was expecting it as if they were announcing a new president
Its on: the streets will be deserted and argentinians will live a crazy passional month just like in every WC
I can't wait also! Since my Minnesota Wild got knocked out of the Stanley Cup playoffs, my main sporting attention has shifted to football/soccer, including (and perhaps especially) the World Cup! This summer I'll be rooting for the Asian Confederation teams (Australia, Iran, Japan, South Korea), and Russia! Hope at least one or two of them will make the knockout stages!
According to current season stats, Argentina is, by far, the forward with most goals among the 32 teams that will play the world cup, nearly DUPLICATING Brazils and Germany!
