Who cares? Tomorrow Germany will have 4 WC's. The Netherlands have ZERO. Nobody cares about 2nd and 3rd places. Ask Arjen Robben.
No way. Johan Cryuff is a football god. The Dutch are very much cared about and are seen as up there with the winners as a top team. Even above teams who've won like England and Uruguay.
They should'nt even be mentioned as the best team that never won but one of the best teams, period.
Netherlands are probably the one team that deserve to win a WC who hasn't yet..
But then again.. I always think to myself, if only England were good at penalties, we probably could have won WC 1990 and Euro 1996. But that will never happen now..
Nobody "deserves" winning a World Cup. England and the Netherlands have lacked the mental toughness to succeed in critical situations. Brazil, Germany and Italy haven't lacked that mental toughness.
To brag about the number of World Cups Germany has won compared to the Netherlands. The discussion wasn't even about that.
The guy above me bragged about a better "winning record" which the Netherlands supposedly had over the last two WC's which is completely irrelevant because the Netherlands never have won anything in the WC. That's why I had to respond with those kind words. It was absolutely necessary.
Like I said, Argentina is not going to give Germany as much space as Brazil did. I would be honestly shocked if Germany won by more than two goals. It will be close indeed, similar to the Netherlands - Argentina game.
I guess you will be shocked, then. It depends on how early Germany scores. The German midfield is able to pick apart any defense on this planet. When Germany scores early, Argentina will have to open up, which will give Germany a lot more space. Don't expect the same drag out game Argentina had with the Netherlands. The midfield of Germany and the Netherlands are not even in the same league.

No, he simply asked whether there were other countries that had a similar record as it is quite unique. There's no need to be so condescending.

The Netherlands have historically bottled every chance they had to win a world cup. That doesn't take away that Johan Cryuff was a great player. So was Eusebio, so was Puskas. Nations like Italy, Brazil Argentian and Germany had multiple players of his quality in the last century. Netherlands are not in the same class like Brazil, Germany, Italy or Argentina.
It depends on which Germany turns up.. against Algeria and the US they didn't play at their best.. but they traditionally bring it to the table against the better teams
We, Brazilians have become big fans of the Germany team, for their respect and humility, for their falling in love with the country and our people. Never mind the bizarre 7x1 on the semi, sometimes weird things happens in football, even with the giants. As a result, people are very divided, some see the need to root for our main rival as the only way to increase our humiliation and prevent reelection of our disastrous politicians (as I have explained before) and some are rooting for Germany for simple admiration of their conduct.
These are words from Lukas Podolski, which was posted in our official language, Portuguese, and I'm translating here:
"Respect the yellow jersey! The world of football owes a lot to Brazil, which is and will always be the nation of the game. We all grew up watching Brazil play, our heroes that inspired us came all from Brazil"

wow, that confidence borders on arrogance
anyways, to all people, look at this video, this is amazing. We might be only the second best team in the world, but NO ONE, no team or nation in this planet feels the love of soccer as argentina do. No one.
