If players are getting concussion after heading the ball they are not heading the ball properly. You are supposed to attack the ball when you head it, not let it hit you in the head. That's when concussions occur.

Good job the old leather balls with the stitching aren't around these days.

They'd almost take your head off when they were wet.

If you got to head the ball with the stitching facing you you could get a lovely mark on your forehead!

My dad used to talk about heading those balls, youd look like zipper head when you got a good smack of it.

I remember we had these horrible vinyl all weather balls when I was younger. They were like rocks. Those hurt no matter how I headed the ball.

Anyway, I just started reading a book on concussions and kids this morning. It is focusing mainly on American football and hockey, but I worry about soccer since my boys are playing it all the time. It is written by the guy that started the group that Nowinski went to work for.
