I'd go along with that, but it's just a bit of a shame for England that no result in this upcoming match will make a bit of difference to the fact that they are out of the World Cup.

I don't think the expectations were really as high this year as previous years, and so people aren't too distraught about it to be honest.

But going out after two games? That's gotta be the worst English performance in decades?

I do not care if England gets bashed in the media, they didn't play well as a team but I really hope this does not ruin the chances for Raheem Sterling who was wonderful during the Italy game. I mean ran laps around some Italian defenders. Great show by the future of England. I just hope something like this scandal doesn't ruin the young lad. Same with Sturridge who combined with Sterling were the only players in my opinion that gave it all. Sterling with Italy, and Sturridge with Uruguay.

Re: the English press...

When they bring in the fact that the fellow who killed them was 'in a wheelchair' a while ago
says a lot about how they feel about the team's performance. Par for the course as I can remember through the years. When the English lose their press feasts on the dead meat.

And I have to say Suarez knew how bad his Liverpool teammates felt after the loss. Guys that know about 'doing their duty' sure know it's all about.

Maybe they will impress against Costa Rica? Hodgson should bench the old guard and have a whole youth squad on the pitch. If they win big then perhaps that will at least perk the English ppl up for Euro 2016.

Ok I just finally got to look up a video of Alexis Ox chamberlain. Wow! Why wasn't he brought out to play for England? Why keep Rooney on the whole time? Could you imagine OX, Sturridge and Sterling all in one game?

No, the worst was not qualifying at all, as they did in Euro 2008.

The English are out but I'd say in 4 years they could be a formidable team. The 'youth' we saw now will be very experienced and it helps that they play in perhaps the greatest football league in the world.
