I agree. Here in the US, we don't really play Soccer. However when the Fifa comes we usually root for USA. However there are Spanish speakers, Portuguese speakers, etc.. So these people will root for Mexico, Honduras, Ghana, Portugal etc.. Overall though, the people will root for US.

Exactly. National pride/patriotism plays absolutely no part in which team I root for. I root for whichever team I like the most and currently that'd be Germany.

I like the sound, defense first mentality of the Germans. I also appreciate the love of the game that Mexicans have. I don't generally root against a country unless it's a rouge state that harms its own citizens and others like Iran, Russia, etc

Defence? Germans?

They have been the best attacking team in Europe for years now lol. Look at Bayern against Barcelona!

The whole point in the WC is national pride, wtf lol

I think the future for Iranian football is bright, they pack over 100k into their stadium for games.

So long as the USA is not playing them, Harrier roots for El Tri - Mexico!!!

The 2002 quarterfinal was epic!

I'm a mutt as I basically have ancestory from all over Western Europe (most of them from Ireland, Germany, France, England, Netherlands, Austria & Italy though), so any of those teams I root for: In Euro & WC qualifying I also pull for: Iceland, & Luxembourg but neither of them have come close to making the World Cup or hell even the main Euro tournament.
Outside of the European teams I'll also pull for any of the CONCACAF teams (minus Mexico though), Colombia, Brazil, Ghana & Ivory Coast.

Always USA, then England (men or women).

If they're both knocked out, then I'm usually scrambling for which team I'll root for next. Rarely Brazil, Argentina or any other South American teams. Mexico is one country I could watch and root for.

Germany has excellent players and coaching, and a great national anthem, so they're a possibility. Spain is always a maybe. Russia has another catchy anthem, if not a good team.

Total scramble after my first two! And, sorry, but sometimes anthems are more attractive than the team!
