Before I get called a bandwangoner let me point something out. I am not from Europe. So I can't pick a European team based on personal "roots" like some others can. For example, I am a Lakers fan. That is because I am from L.A. and was rooting for Magic Johnson when I was six years old, as was my entire family. To me, THAT'S a real fan.
So the only football team I can say I am a true fan of (based on my definition of a true fan) is the US Men's National Team. I will always root for them no matter what. And the fact they are underdogs makes it even more so.
As far as professional teams go, it's Barcelona and Chelsea. Honestly, when I was still ambivalent about soccer (football) it was these two teams that really made me start enjoying the game.
So, you root against the USMNT but you live in Atlanta??
It isnt too shocking. A majority of football fans down here cheer for Mexico over the US
