Its in jest man. What part of that do you not get? Way to deflect! I didn't say the game is stupid it should be called hand egg. I merely called it as such and proceeded to construct an argument. I debate people who snidely call the game futbol in a mock accent but then proceed with an an argument and facts to back up their trash talk. It's the same thing.

If you are going to be sarcastic, then at least use the emoticon.

If you're going to have a point at least share it with us all.

Harrier has made his point - and he will repeat since you appear to have missed it the first time.

Americans call it soccer, England calls it football, and other countries call it by their own name.

Can't we all just get along?

The origins of the name Association football are in the UK.
The UK created a football association, most europeans countries created a football association, like the basketball association here in the U.S. (NBA). The name of the sport has always been football, since its origin in the UK.

The USA created the US football association in 1913 and lasted until the mid 40s when the name soccer was added and then the name football was dropped in the 70s.

The name Association Football never existed. FIFA is an International Federation of Football Associations, the union of the associations of all the countries and continents.

The point is that we do all get along and the naysayers in here are just exaggerating.

Wrong.

Soccer is the abbreviated way to say it, and the word soccer originated in the UK, and was used commonly by Brits until relatively recently.

If the word "soccer" originated in England, why did it fall into disuse there and become dominant in the States? To answer that question, Szymanski counted the frequency with which the words "football" and soccer" appeared in American and British news outlets as far back as 1900.

'What he found is fascinating: "Soccer" was a recognized term in Britain in the first half of the twentieth century, but it wasn't widely used until after World War II, when it was in vogue (and interchangeable with "football" and other phrases like "soccer football")

Wrong.

Association football never existed. The name of the sport has always been football.

The NFL is a TV show, were a ball is not used, that thing being thrown is a Vesica Piscis, that is the name of the object.

Football is the sport of the world. The sport that you can actually play. A sport that is actually in the Olympic games and enjoyed by billions of people.

The NFL is a manufactured tv show for the television, people talk more about commercials than they do about the short amount of action they see after the quintillion replays and commercials. NFL is a joke. And the ogres that act in that tv show are so fat they no longer look like the average homo sapiens.

Here in Florida people do not even talk about the NFL.

Noone cares about the NFL.

Yeah, c'mon Miami that was a bit too much. Florida Gators? Just that alone should be enough. Miami Dolphins?

I do agree though that while fun to watch, American pro- football is largely a sanitized corporate affair.
