I'm starting to get nervous for the US. But how do you think the Belgians would fare against the US, then the Argentinians and after that quite possibly, the Dutch?
They've looked awful in each of their games, but they have scored. they've started off slow and played pretty pathetically for the first 50-60 minutes of each of their three games. If the US can come out attacking, there's no reason why the US can't win. I don't see either team getting past the round of 8 though, so not sure it matters.

We are missing Jozy Altidore (and Landon Donovan).

Belgium has been considered to be a team that can go far in this tournament.

Harrier thinks that the Belgians are beatable, but there can be no doubt that USA is the underdog.

That is OK - Americans like to do things the hard way.
I realize they have 5 days rest between games, but one Belgium player suspended on Red Card and 10 guys that had to play the last 40 minutes short 1 man - that's a lot of running.

Belgium are yet to kick into gear and have 9 points, god help the team they play when they do kick into gear!

Write them off at your peril.

The US had a closed door scrimmage with Belgium in Brazil before both teams played their first game...not sure whom that helps.

IMO, Belgium has better talent, although it is on the younger side...they have to be favorites though. Still, the US has a decent shot.

The Belgium side is overrated. I thought they would play much better and outperform there opponents every game for 90 + mins. In the first game Algeria dominated the first half. Second game there offense was struggling against Russian defense. Third game they were extremely aggressive against the Koreans with no known reason although they were guaranteed to qualify. Didn't like there performance and their style of play expected more from them!! The US on the other hand always starts slowly against European teams (Germany and Portugal games) IF they performed for 90 mins without giving the Belgium team a chance to expose there defense they have a good chance to qualify. They played good attacking football.

I would say I was most shocked by Costa Rica beating Italy and Uraguay, they could be a player.

Harrier has learned that the Belgians have injury problems.

They may be considered the dark horse in the tournament, but they are favored to win this upcoming game.

The injury situation certainly turns odds towards the U.S. team's favor, however.
