I think Mix could potentially grow into the attacking midfielder role due to his size, technical skill and athleticism. Bradley showed that he couldn't fit into that role and is better served to be in the central/defensive midfield position. As far as the rest goes, I have high hopes for Johannson and can see him next to Altidore as a striker. I can see Green growing fast and becoming a solid winger. Zusi or Bedoya could still be fit to be the other wing, unless Shea decides to prove his worth.

Defensive could be pretty similar to what we saw this world cup over the next years with Yedlin taking right defender and Johnson moving back to left back. A solid mixture of Besler, Brooks, Camerone and Gonzalez at the center is very likely.

Overall, the future has potential and room to work with. Jurgen also has shown himself as a very capable coach. This could be a formula for future improvement and success. I hope other young surprises (Gil, Shipp, etc) can rise up to the occasion.

Perhaps so, but the U.S. supports winners, and getting eliminated by Belgium in the Round of 16 is not winning.

Perhaps Harrier wants entertain us with a example of a worldwide sport that the US has only wins, no defeats.

Re: ' they respected opponents too much....didn't take risks'

I'd agree with that. Gotta get confidence for that and it's evident that possession of the ball is key for the US to improve. I can only speak for myself but I watch too much international football and it colors my assessment of the US team. On a 'team' basis we to a certain extent make up certain individual deficiencies. But one by one the standard we have is just not on a par of what other countries have to offer and it affects the bottom line attack/defense strategic and tactical plans. We're certainly competitive in the games as shown. Just going to take some time and a lot of work to win the 'prime time' games. We'll get there. We must think positive.

Yeah, I also heard that American soccer style is going to have some changes before the world cup. It sounds at once noble and overly ambitious, the dream is still that.
