The US wouldn't need to do all that. Our infrastructure could definitely be improved. But we wouldn't have to do anything to the extent of what Brazil did. As far as our stadiums go, we don't need a building boom there either. With the exception of Los Angeles, we already have modern, world cup ready stadiums in all the major cities across the country.
Apparently you don't like StubHub Center and are dismissive of the character and history of the Rose Bowl.
Why not? Detroit handles Lions NFL games, Tigers MLB games, Pistons NBA games and RedWing NHL games. So of course the city could comfortably host one of the venue locations for a world cup.

Unfortunately, I can't see the US improviing the infrastructure just based on this WC. The US team advanced to the same place they did last year. And we progressed even further in 2002, and didn't see any uptick in the prestige of soccer.
Explain then how '94 was still the most successful World Cup in history. Everything is better now than it was in '94.
We're World Cup ready. So much in fact that rumors were flying that FIFA was plans to host here on late notice if South Africa wasn't ready in 2010.

You know that is simply not true. There are plenty of American born sports fans who would love to see the US host a World Cup.
Only thing I don't like about the US holding the WC is the stadia used are mostly used for baseball/NFL and the crowd is far away from the pitch.. there are much better atmospheres in stadia without running tracks/large gaps between the crowd and pitch.

Well for one, they're not going to be held in any baseball parks. We've mostly done away with the multipurpose (football & baseball) stadiums as well.
Most of the modern stadiums built within the last decade or so are perfect venues for all sports, not just one. You won't see any large gaps between the seats and the field.

Yeah, I don't mind those.. I just have bad memories of seeing 1994 and the pitch being so far away in some cases.
Also, please don't hold any venues in Florida, Arizona or Texas.. high heat and humidity will not be nice!
I heard the US is not interested in officially bidding for the the WC after Qatar, I guess it can change, I don't know. Knowing FIFA, I do not think the WC in 2022 will be taken away from Qatar. It looks like the issue now is the climate and FIFA and the WC committee are considering moving it to winter time.

I have a feeling Qatar will go down as the worst host country in FIFA World Cup history. If you hate seeing players getting water breaks, just wait until the World Cup comes to Qatar. You'll in for a rude awakening.
