I don't know much about him but I thought he was unattractive. Yes I suck. This was the first US team that I've actually liked. I won't miss him.

I think it is fair to say Landon maybe got a little complacent with the national team situation. I don't think he expected to miss the WC. That said, I'm not sure Jurgen is the best one to lead the team either, so, I'm divided in the issue.

He was an attention seeker who loved being in the starlight of the US team..

No matter what, he is a great American soccer player. He definitely rubs some people the wrong way, but he also just says what's on his mind.

Don't think he would have made a difference, to be honest

He's never been that good to begin with. I wish us as US fans would stop thinking he's some kind of great footballer. Drogba is 36 and has signed back with Chelsea.

Donovan was great for the USA but equivalent to an average team winter I would say.. maybe would have been a good player for a team ranked 6-9 in the EPL

I sort of despise David Beckham and his celebrity. I get why Landon Donovan didn't like him and was ticked off at his circus, seemingly lack of committment to the Galaxy and the cohesiveness of the team. But I've always thought Donovan was a major turd for being the source of Grant Wahl's book that slammed Beckham, while they were still CURRENT teammates. Ouch! A very high profile excerpt was printed in Sports Illustrated: Grant Wahl: New Afterword from The Beckham Experiment - More Sports - SI.com

Seriously, who helps a reporter write a book that slams your current teammate and just tells all these really petty slights? Beckham's response was very reasonable when he said he wasn't sure why a teammate would come to him with his complaints vs. an author/reporter. Stuff like Beckham wouldn't pick up the check for team meals on the road, despite making much more than the other players. Donovan was complaining about Beckham being a bad teammate, while he did something much, much worse.

This is the same Donovan who takes a sabbatical to still see if he has the desire to continuing to play football, claims he's totally recharged and committed, and then retires right after the WC. So basically Klinsman was right that Donovan probably really not committed to football and Donovan was a total hippocrite sniping at him throughout the WC, especially after the team exceeded expectations.

Now he gets to be yet another former USMNT TV analyst that constantly complains about the current team and coach.

Beckham has always been a brilliant professional.. everyone except Donovan who has worked with him seems to agree on that. Always put 100% on the pitch for England, Utd, Madrid, Milan, PSG whenever I saw him play. Seems like Donovan is jealous.. who cares if he doesn't pick up the check for team meals.. why should he?
