He announced it on his Facebook page, personally I think he has two more good years left in him and its way too early

After careful deliberation and after many conversations with those closest to me, I have decided that this will be my last season as a professional soccer player.

wow, that is surprising. Last night after the game they asked how he was doing, not his team. He said he is super happy, enjoying the game, etc. I wonder if his body is starting to break down a bit and he is trying to save himself a bit...interesting.

I kind of wondered that too but I havent noticed anything in how he plays. If he was he could adjust his training schedule and still play IMHO. I hope hes talked out of it.

I think the possibilty of going to the WC was his last fuel, but of course, he didn't go.

I also think 32 years old is not too bad, especially in the MLS, which is full of aging stars.

MLS is NOT "full" of aging stars. There are a few designated players who have come over from Europe, or up from South America, but for the most part it is a young league, player-wise.

Incorrect....

The average age of MLS players is roughly 28, with four teams having an average age of 29.

MLS teams, are on average, older than NBA and NFL teams

Is MLS really crime-free and why? - Dynamo Theory

One might think MLB players would be older on average, but even in baseball the average age is 2 years younger at 26.8

Why has the MLB been getting younger? - Beyond the Box Score
