A 1-0 loss....Under the circumstances it looks like Rodgers et al escaped worse. Perhaps the 'changes' brought in some uncertianty with RM's play. Anyway it's on to Chelsea. Things we'd like to see: Balto..... alive alive alive!!!...;-)...

Yes, it end up being a good result for pool despite of the loss.

The stars started in the bench, what was that about? Was that a attempt to promote a generalized wake up call?

I think he was sending a clear, albeit late message to the stars of the team. I still think Balotelli isn't good enough to pull on the shirt and needs to sit in the reserves till after Christmas and when we do play him, stick somebody up front with him as he is not a good lone striker.

The only team looking likely to achieve anything at this early stage of the season is Chelsea.

Southampton are doing amazingly well so far but there's a long way to go.

Koeman is doing a fantastic job at Southampton. Much respect.

Same goes for QPR and Redknapp.

Re: Koeman

He's looking good. Ahem...though being an EPL mgr isn't like working for the civil service! One day it's looking at things from the sky above but the next it's a view from the mud below.
I give you the fellow with the team in 11th. Hey I'm not asking for his head. But others are.
Koe and co should breathe the nice air while they have it. The higher ya go the bigger can be the drop!!!!

And ok when Stur is back let's see what Balto's made of. Looks to me an empty kit so far. He's got some pressure. But hey everybody suiting up gets it on Sat and Sun, eh?

11 games in last year, Southampton was in 3rd place at 22 points (6-4-1), 3 points behind Arsenal.

They wound up 8th last year. Pretty good I think. We'll see if they can improve to throw themselves into the top bunch.

I agree that 8th is pretty good for Southampton, but it doesn't get much other not making sure you aren't relegated. Top 5 would be something to crow about, and pocket a few extra dollars to buy some more players or pay current players.
