I swore I saw something on the Champions League on one of the threads, but I couldn't find it. I found last year's thread on the CL, but not this year's.

Anyway, I watched the Celtic x Maribor game last night, I thought it might be a snoozer, but it was a really fun game to watch. Maribor played more aggressively than I thought, while still mostly keeping their shape on defense. Both teams had great opportunities that were missed. Overall, a good game...although in the larger scheme of things, it won't matter as Maribor won't make it out of the group stage. Now Celtic got knocked out of this year's CL twice...and Maribor makes $10M more than if they lost that game.

Thanks for opening the thread.

Eyes to Arsenal and Bayer Leverkusen today. I watched Zenit beat St Liege yesterday, great performance by Hulk.

I think the draw to define the groups is tomorrow. That's when the competition really starts!

I'm of the totally opposite opinion. The qualifying is IMO more interesting than the group stage. We've seen Barcelona, Man City, Milan, Bayern Munich, Ajax and the others a 100 times, but how many times have you seen NK Maribor, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Malmö FF or Sparta Praha? I watched Celtic-Maribor and how satisfying it was to look at the joy of the underdogs after the match! First group stage in 14 years for the Slovenians!

Malmö FF - Red Bull Salzburg will be my pick today.

Good for you, but I don't want see teams like the ones in bold playing. I have watched some of the games so far in the qualifying round and a good number of them were painful

They say that Celtic are the only team to be knocked out of the qualifying round of the champions league twice in the same year.

The second half of Atl. Bilbao and Napoli was good, too bad Napoli could not make it. I used to like Napoli a lot in the 80's. What happened to the Italian clubs? It used to be by far my favorite league back then.
