My first, that i can remember anyway, was Linfield against Distillery at Windsor Park in Belfast (which wasn't falling down at the time) that my dad and one of his mates took me to sometime in the mid 60s when i was 4 or 5.
I remember the crowd and being lifted over the turnstile and thats it.
I only know what match it was because my dad told me what it was many years later.
It was strange in as much as my family have all been Glentoran supporters since the early 1900s at least and my dad has told me that i was dragged to some of their games as a toddler by him and my grandad, but thats the first one i have any awareness of.
We only went because my dad's mate was a Linfield fan.
Happily i grew up in the family tradition of supporting the 'wee c**k 'n 'hens' ( possibly the most embarrassing team nickname in the history of sport, so embarrassing that it cant even be spelt on this site) and have watched the Glens hundreds of times since.
The last game i saw was when we beat champions elect Crusaders a few weeks ago in the Irish Cup semi final.
Wow. You'd think that was a cup final or something lol.
I visited Dundee and stayed very close to both stadiums on Cleppington Road for a couple weeks. Sadly it was the offseason. Mind you that was 10 years ago. How time flies.
Would have loved to go to check out either teams games. Love Scottish soccer, just don't care much for Celtic or Rangers.
I believe it was a live game at a city park between two AYSO teams. They were both 7-year-old boys teams, and they mostly played "bunch ball", because they just didn't hold their positions very well or very long! However, it gave me a basic understanding of the game.
